Sanjaya Kulkarni (51) – Managing Director

Sanjaya graduated with an Engineering Degree from IIT Bombay and a Master's in Business from IIM Ahmedabad. He then  embarked upon a career in finance as a member of Citibank N.A.'s Merchant Banking department in 1973. After working in the Merchant Banking and Corporate Banking divisions of Citibank for 7 years, Sanjaya founded 20th Century Leasing Corporation along with a number of his colleagues.

20th Century grew to be one of India's largest finance companies and had interests in Car Finance, Retail Finance, Mutual Funds and Commercial Banking. 20th Century had tie-ups with large Multinationals like Zurich Insurance, GMAC, IFC Washington and Asian Development Bank.

20th Century set up 20th Century Venture Capital Limited in the early90's, one of the first Venture Capital companies in India. Sanjaya was heading this company and was also responsible for Private Equity Investments made by 20th Century from their propritory funds. Sanjaya has hence been associated with the Venture Capital/Private Equity industry since the outset.

Sanjaya has been appointed to various committees of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce, the Bombay Management Association and the Reserve Bank of India. Sanjaya has been Co-Chairman from 1989 to 1993 and then Chairman of the Equipment Leasing Association of India from 1993 to 1995.

Sanjaya represents IDEA as Chairman of the IDF Investment Committee since inception. He is also the Chairman of the eTEC investment committee.

Nimesh Grover (29) - Vice President

Nimesh graduated from Bombay University as a Chemical Engineer, Nimesh gravitated to finance with a master's degree in Business Management from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of management Sciences, Bombay.

Prior to joining IDEA, Nimesh worked with Prime Securities Ltd. as part of a team that managed Prime's USD 30 million leveraged proprietary book for three years. He subsequently spent about a year managing a US based global emerging market fund's India allocation. Nimesh's final assignment at Prime was as the Engineering & FMCG analyst for Prime's stock broking arm, where he covered and actively tracked about 15 stocks.


Ravi Lekhrajani (31) - Vice President

Ravi Lekhrajani holds a Bachelors' degree in Commerce, a Masters degree in Business Management with specialization in Finance, is a Cost Accountant from the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and a certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the US.

Prior to joining IDEA, Ravi has worked for 5 years with a venture capital firms like Alliance Venture Capital Advisors Limited, which is managing a Swiss fund in India and Gujarat Venture Finance Limited, a fund co-sponsored by CDC, UK and The World Bank. Prior to that, Ravi has worked with the Indian and US offices of CIFAR, an international corporate database company, based in Princeton, USA.

Bharat Dighe (31) - Manager

Bharat holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Mumbai University and is an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Prior to joining IDEA, Bharat worked with M/s. Sharp & Tannan, Chartered Accountants as a member of the Financial Advisory Services Cell since 1994. Bharat has experience in conceptualisation and construction of various decision models, business valuations and due diligence exercises.
Sushim Desai (26) - Assistant Manager

Sushim holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration with specialisation in Finance from the Institute of Management Education, Pune.

Prior to joining IDEA, Sushim worked for Castrol India Limited and for the Battelle Memorial Institute of Columbus, US, where he was responsible for industrial data collection and processing.
